This is how your excess can be paid back quickly
Everybody wants an insurance claim to be settled as quickly as possible, without problems or delays. Many factors can delay a claim, but you could help to speed up the process.
Even though it is difficult to think straight immediately after an accident, it could be very helpful. The more comprehensive the information obtained from the other party/ parties involved in the accident, the faster the claim can be finalized and the better the chances of recovering your excess from that party. You should supply all relevant information to IntegriSure as quickly as possible. This includes the registration number of the other vehicle(s), the person’s full names and ID number. Don’t take their word, but insist on seeing an ID document or driver’s licence and write down everything – the exact location of the accident and prevailing circumstances as well. If the other person is insured, obtain full particulars of the insurer. If at all possible, take down the names, addresses and telephone numbers of all independant witnesses at the scene. If a police officer is present, obtain his/her full particulars as well. Remember the name of the police station where the accident is reported and note the case reference number.
Although you may be in a state of shock and even though you may not be sure which is the guilty party, you must make no promises or give no undertaking on behalf of your insurer. It is critically important to remember that any excess can only be paid back if it has been recovered successfully from the guilty party.
